2017 - 2020 As of 2020, I stopped being interested in “cosplay”. Not sure what happened. It just doesn’t excite me anymore. Maybe it will come back to me.
I view cosplay as an extension of performance art — and Halloween. I was at one point interested in exploring identity through fandoms while also expanding on the definition of “cosplay” with costumes-identities within the realm of pop culture referencing the every day; literature, fashion, culture, news, and online trends in addition to genres commonly found in cosplay like fantasy, comics, television, and film. Each costume displays an absorbed reflection of self.
